The courtyard patio graced with planters and classical marble statuary, horse-tying posts. Caged songbirds add notes of delight, punctuated by the occasional shriek of a resident peacock.

Bars & Restaurants

Hotel Conde de Villanueva has two bars and two restaurants where is offered Cuban and International cuisine.

Vuelta Abajo restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Hotel Conde de Villanueva and it has been decorated with Cuban paintings from famous contemporary painters. An intimate and genuine atmosphere offers all visitors an excellent opportunity travel to the past through the present.

Vuelta Abajo restaurant bearing the name of a famous tobacco plantation to the west of Havana attracts gourmets with its recipes taken from old Cuban cook books.

Traditional Cuban food with an interesting twist: it's mainly based on fruit! One of the most popular dishes is the Pescado al Trapiche Colonial (Colonial Sugar Mill Fish), made with ginger and molasses. Also delicious is the Rollos de Cerdo en Salsa de Mango (Pork Roll with Mango Sauce), beautifully presented and so good you'll leave the plate spotless.

Nigel Alexander Hunt

Welcome to my site dedicated to the famous and historical Hotel Conde de Villanueva in Old Havana. I am "poco a poco" researching and updating it with the aim to provide as complete as possible record of the hotel's ancient and recent history; bearing in mind that the goings-on today may one day be of historical interest.

My site is NOT the official website of the current hotel operator, and is by no means endorsed by them; but I am grateful for their help with the research.

You can make from this site room reservations operated by Cubaism Ltd.

Best wishes for 2009
